ABOUT

Hi! My name is Mary Callahan McPhail, but you can call me Callie

Because who doesn’t go by their shortened middle name these days, right? Anyway – if you were intrigued by my blurb on the home page, there’s more lore where that came from. Yes, I am afraid of birds, that wasn’t a lie. Am I embarrassed? Yes. Will I ever get over it? Probably not. Hire me and I’ll tell you the full story… it’s a good one, too.

Okay, onto more important stuff. I am a lifelong University of Kansas fan, which is where I received both of my degrees: a BSJ in Strategic Communications and a BFA in Visual Communications. Throughout my past experience, I have found that these two skillsets complement each other seamlessly.

Creative and Strategy. Buzz and Woody. Venus and Serena. Simon and Garfunkel. Can you really have one without the other? If you want to get technical then yes, you can, but as Jack Johnson once said, “[we’re] better together.” (like me and your team!)

Now, you might be thinking that I’m just another girl who loves Taylor Swift and Gilmore Girls and the Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew from Starbucks and you know what?

You’re right. I do. I really really do. But one thing about me is that you can’t put me in a box (disregard the fact that you are learning about me through a box-shaped tab on your screen of choice). Just when you think that ‘witty sad girl autumn tuesday morning’ is my whole personality, you’ll find that my daylist is constantly evolving. Perhaps it’s not a perfect metaphor, but the Spotify girlies get it. Anyway, I digress. Keep it moving, Apple Music nerds.

On a more serious note, I’m still the girl doing the chicken dance in my soccer uniform at the end of the day. I love to dream big and create colorful things and discover new music and watch movies that make me cry. I am influenced by all creative mediums alike: architecture, film, fashion, songwriting, literature, illustration, nature, you name it. I find that my best ideas come to me when I’m unplugged and thinking outside of the box. See what I did there?

If you’re looking for someone with big ideas and who is ready to push the boundaries to create something meaningful, I’m your girl.
